Applications

KHK ceramic insulated band heaters are used where higher temperatures are required and conventional ceramic insulation is sufficient. Typical applications include standard plastics-processing duties on barrels and nozzles.

  • standard injection-moulding and extrusion processes without special sealing requirements
  • higher-temperature applications where ceramic insulation is sufficient
  • existing equipment already designed for ceramic insulated band heaters

Conventional ceramic solutions reach their limits when material ingress, uneven heat distribution or process fluctuations occur.

  • for melt-tight requirements and critical processes, ZAK offers the more stable solution
  • for standardised applications focused on economy, M/MC is generally the more suitable choice
Options
  • various dimensions and connection versions
  • alternative voltages; single- or multi-phase; star or delta connection
  • with holes and/or thermocouple bridges
  • additional cut-outs
  • custom clamping gap
  • multi-part construction or segmented heaters
  • with warning sign: “Caution – hot surface”
  • UL-recognised version

Frequently asked questions

The KHK ceramic insulated band heater from Ihne & Tesch has a wall thickness of approximately 11 mm. It is used on barrels, nozzles and tools in plastics processing and has proved reliable on all common types of injection moulding and extrusion machinery.

KHK ceramic insulated band heaters from Ihne & Tesch are suitable for virtually all common injection moulding machines and extrusion lines, including Arburg Allrounder, Engel, Krauss-Maffei, Sumitomo Demag, Wittmann Battenfeld, Netstal, Fanuc, Ferromatik Milacron, Husky, Toshiba, Boy and Haitian.

KHK ceramic insulated band heaters from Ihne & Tesch can operate at temperatures up to 400 °C, covering virtually all common processing temperatures in plastics processing and extrusion.

KHK band heaters from Ihne & Tesch are made to measure for the relevant machine or tool. Options include different dimensions and connections, single- or multi-phase versions with star or delta connection, holes, cut-outs, thermocouple bridges, pressure-spring locks, segmented designs and UL-recognised versions.

Custom KHK band heaters are manufactured directly by Ihne & Tesch. The typical delivery time is approximately two to three weeks, with production carried out in-house to the customer’s specification.

KHK ceramic insulated band heaters from Ihne & Tesch can be supplied as UL-recognised versions on request, often for machines intended for export to North America.

Where a melt-tight construction, precise geometric fit and uniform temperature distribution are essential, ZAK is the more advanced technical solution. KHK is generally used for conventional applications with ceramic insulation.
