The problem with classic band heaters
Mica and ceramic insulated band heaters have their place in many applications. They are well known, available and have been used for years. However, the disadvantage becomes apparent where heat does not enter the cylinder evenly: at edge areas, openings, bores and poorly fitting contact surfaces.
These weaknesses become visible in the thermal image. Conventional band heaters show heat accumulation areas and cold spots. To the operator, the zone on the controller often looks stable. However, the heat distribution is not the same everywhere on the component itself.
If your machine still uses classic band heater technology, the crucial question is not: “Will it get warm?” The crucial question is: “How much energy, time and process reserve do we lose?”
What makes ZAK technically different

The experimental data speaks clearly
In the technical comparison, a ceramic-insulated band heater KHK was compared with an aluminium compact band heater ZAK. Both variants had 9,000 W of power. The goal was a cylinder temperature of 250 °C.
- ZAK reached the target temperature after 44 minutes.
- KHK took 55 minutes.
- In the experiment, ZAK was 6.4 kWh energy requirement.
- In comparison, KHK was 8.15 kWh.
- The PDF comparison shows a total savings potential of up to 30% as well as almost full-surface heat distribution.
