Frequently asked questions about tubular heaters

Ihne & Tesch tubular heaters are tube-shaped electric heating elements with magnesium-oxide insulation and a NiCr heating conductor in a stainless-steel sheath. They are used in liquid baths, air heaters, hot-runner manifolds, screw-in and flanged heaters, heating banks, heat exchangers, flow heaters and tool heating. They also form the basic element for manufacturing cast-in heaters.

Depending on the sheath material, Ihne & Tesch tubular heaters can operate at temperatures up to 950 °C. Material 1.4541 is designed for 750 °C, 1.4571 for 850 °C and 1.4828 for 950 °C. The precise limit depends on diameter, connection design and operating environment.

Standard diameters are 6.5 and 8.5 mm, with other diameters available on request. Double-ended versions are available in lengths from 300 to 6,000 mm; single-ended 8.5 mm versions are available up to 2,500 mm. Length tolerance is ±10 mm up to 1,000 mm and ±1% above 1,000 mm.

Connection designs are available with protection ratings up to IP67. Explosion-protected versions with ATEX certification are available on request for hazardous areas in the chemical, pharmaceutical and food industries.

Ihne & Tesch manufactures tubular heaters with various screw-in threads, connection cables, limiters or thermostats, and temperature sensors in sensor tubes. Operating voltage can be specified up to 500 V, subject to technical feasibility.

Yes. Tubular heaters are manufactured at our own plant. This enables flexible custom dimensions, reliable quality assurance and short lead times. They also form the basis for our in-house cast-in heater production.
